The Multidimensional Nature of Human Beings

The Multidimensional Nature of (the) Human Being(s)
By Keith Sherwood.

Because of the prime importance we attach to the issue of pollution of our environment almost everybody today knows how this factor disturbs our physical well-being and health. Far less known is the fact that also our nonphysical environment, which is called ‘inner environment’ by the author, can also be more or less polluted or clean. It’s state is crucial in determining our mental well-being and health. In the following article the well known healer and Sensitive (to feel things clairvoyantly) Keith Sherwood explains the levels of the inner environment and describes practical exercises which lead to immediate experiences.

Everywhere around the world in countless different cultures and traditions, men and women with knowledge share their vision and understanding of the human energy-system. It was the exchange and spreading of information and experiences through all cultures and traditions as well as an increasing openness of western psychology and science towards this philosophy that humans are (finally) recognized as multidimensional beings. The idea of the multidimensional nature of human beings is a central theme in the whole human history. The foundation of that idea is the intuitive awareness that humans are animal and spiritual and that the spiritual part is the manifestation of a bunch of subtle (feinstofflich – better: non-physical) bodies which are composed of subtle forms of energy and matter which are interweaved  with each other and the material reality. According to these esoteric traditions it’s all those bodies which compose the human being.
The esoteric tradition of the west delivers the idea that humans are multidimensional beings who exist on four levels simultaneously. But usually only the physical level is accessible to our awareness and it’s only there where we seem to be separated from each other. On the subtle levels which are generally invisible for us we are connected by a web of energy which permeates the whole universe.

The Ecology of Soul, Body and Mind

In our multidimensional universe there is a vast ecology of soul, body and mind. Because of this ecology  thoughts, feelings and deeds not only have an effect on the person who thinks, feels, and acts but also on the world and anything that lives in there. In this way it creates either harmony or the contrary. Whether we believe it or not – we don’t live in a vacuum. Even if we feel totally isolated - the truth is that we are on the non-physical levels connected to everyone and everything. As multidimensional beings we are connected to the flow of knowledge and energy which streams through the levels of the non-physical energy-field.
We have to go beyond our comprehension that we’re solely physical beings if we wish to really understand ourselves. Therefore we have to accept our non-physical nature and how we relate to our non-physical bodies and recognize the levels on which those bodies move (better: function). Even when the higher levels are usually invisible for us doesn’t mean they’re not real. They (the levels) determine more than anything else what we believe, how we behave, and how we act. They are the base of our unconscious part, our unconscious fears and desires.
I call those subtle (or non-physical) levels the inner environment. The interactions of the inner environment are usually nourished by non-physical (or subtle) energy (also called prana) as well as interactions in the physical world are nourished by more coarsely forms of energy (like electricity).
We all get comprehension about the physical body and about the physical levels on which it exists even when there are differences in the amount of clarity and comprehension. Most people are unaware that there are non-physical bodies and levels. The reason for this is that people must have the ability to transfer the characteristic frequencies of energy of a certain level through (or along) the nerves into the physical body to become aware of that certain level. Unfortunately for must of us the physical dimension became sort of a jail in which we’re locked in with almost no access to the higher levels. This is why most people are unaware of the fine energy which flows through them.
In his work ‘Phaedrus’ Plato says that the soul is caught in the physical body of people like an oyster in it’s shell. The esoteric author Elisabeth Haich explains: "As soon as a ’Self’ dwells in the body it (the body) builds a barrier against it which refers to the average amount (or measure) of the given soul-consciousness. (the barrier has to be as big as the consciousness of the soul to block it successfully)"
A big part of our western image and comprehension of the subtle nature of humans and their energy-systems comes from Egypt  especially from ancient mystery-cults which in times of the Ptolemar were known as hermetics.
The tradition tells us that the Egyptian god Thot has given the hermetic teachings to humankind. In Egyptian mythology he has most often the head of the bird Ibis and during the judgment in the underworld he stands beside Osiris. Thot was the god of science and art and he was the one who gave to humankind the knowledge which they posses.
The hermetic philosophy teaches us that there are seven principles of truth. The person who really grasps them possesses the magical key so that all gates of the temple (chakras) can open immediately. Here the term temple refers to the four bodies who compose the human being.
The seven principles are as follows: (only enumeration of the 7)

The Principle of Vibration

The comprehension about (or of) the third hermetic principle " vibration" helps us to get a better grasp of the subtle nature of our subtle energy-system. It says: ‘nothing rests, anything moves, anything vibrates’. This means that anything is in permanent movement and it describes the differences between different forms of matter in the visible and invisible universe as well as the differences between our subtle bodies and our physical body.
The hermetic teachings say that matter, energy, mind, and soul are primary manifestations of different conditions which are caused by different frequencies of energy-vibrations. Science is only paying attention to this principle as far as the physical world is concerned.
It’s a fact that not only physical matter vibrates but also the energy which can influence it. With the beginning of the age of the atom people even have learned to transform matter into energy.
But also the universal ether vibrate, an idea which has been promoted by science in the last centuries without gaining a real comprehension about it’s nature. Esoteric traditions tell us that ether is a fluid-like substance which permeates the universe. Light and any other energy has to go trough this medium. The ether is in interaction with the matter and energy of the physical environment and the matter and energy of the subtle levels and it’s ether by which emotions are transferred from one location to another.
The ether in a room can be charged with the feelings of the people who are in it. In this way someone who enters the room can become influenced either positively or negatively which depends on the kind of feelings the room is charged with.
This explains why the mood of someone can rapidly change only by getting into another environment. The hermetic calls this kind of phenomena ‘the astral atmosphere’.

The Secret of Old Chapels

If we wish to maintain our mental and physical well-being it is of great importance to understand how ether can influence the environment. By this we gain knowledge how our entire nature can be influenced by the inner and outer environment we get in touch with. When ether is inside an enclosure (like in little rooms) this effect is even stronger. This goes for example for little chapels where feelings of devotion to the divine by thousands of people have charged the atmosphere.
There is also a ‘mental atmosphere’ which consists of even finer vibrations which come from the mental (spiritual?) level. It can be created by thoughts or the mental energy of one person or a whole group if the thoughts are concentrated enough.
This can influence other peoples thought-level (or mind-level?) if they get into this field. The mental and the astral atmosphere stay inside a room even when the people who have created it are already gone. Atmosphere has the characteristic to create an either supportive and positive environment in the house or at the workplace or one that is harmful. We are all influenced in this way. This is why we have to be very attentive not to enter an environment with negative atmosphere voluntary ‘cause it can have a remarkably bad influence on our energy-system and our well-being.
